ICF is a global management consulting services company with over 8,000 full- and part-time employees. We are not your typical consultants: at ICF, business analysts and policy specialists work together with digital strategists, data scientists and creatives. We combine unmatched industry expertise with cutting-edge engagement capabilities to help organisations solve their most complex challenges. Since 1969, public and private sector clients have worked with ICF to navigate change and shape the future.

    The role

We are expanding our services and to support this growth we are looking for an Analyst with strong experience in quantitative methods and econometric analysis to join our growing team.

We provide research, evaluation and technical assistance services to EU institutions, the UK Government and other non-governmental organisations. Our current portfolio of projects reflects the diversity of our work. Examples include impact evaluations and value for money assessments for clients such as the Department for Education, Greater London Authority, Education and Training Foundation, Department for Health and Social care and the European Commission.

The position entails carrying out quantitative analysis in a wide array of fields that could range from economic and financial policies to justice and consumer policies, migration, security, health and food, and environment. The level of complexity of the analysis will be commensurate to experience. However, as a general indication, quantitative tasks may include:

    • Data preparation (e.g., cleaning and linking datasets)
    • Producing descriptive statistics and implementing econometric analyses
    • Implementing impact evaluations and cost-benefit/cost-effectiveness analyses
    • Contributing to the design, implementation and analysis of quantitative surveys

    Skills, knowledge and experience

The Analyst is also expected to contribute to drafting research reports and proposals, and present research findings to clients. You will typically be working on a few projects at a time, interacting with all levels of ICF staff and external stakeholders. We are interested in individuals who can demonstrate a real interest in UK/European policies in the areas we cover. We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge and skills:

    • A relevant university qualification (graduate or postgraduate, preferably in economics, statistics or quantitative sociology)
    • Strong quantitative/analytical skills. Statistical/econometric knowledge is essential
    • Experience of writing do-files in Stata or other statistical packages for data processing, and good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Excel and Stata will be tested
    • Some experience of Python and a desire to develop Python knowledge
    • Ability to implement value for money (e.g., cost-benefit or cost-effectiveness) analysis would be an advantage
    • Strong writing and presentation skills
    • Good organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
