    We are currently recruiting 2 Undergraduate Mechanical/Electronics Interns, to start in June 2022 (dates to be agreed at offer stage) for 12 weeks. These positions will be based in the Corporate Research Systems Laboratory in Bracknell, UK.

    An internship is a fixed term position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 12 week assignment.  All interns are included in a global Internship program within Corporate Research Lab, working with 3M researchers on current projects in Scrum teams.

    As a Technology Development (Mechanical/Electronics) R&D Intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

    • Leveraging expertise to support development of new technologies, providing growth opportunities, in addition to supporting existing 3M products, businesses, and operations.
    • Expand 3Ms digital product capabilities though invention and application of new technologies.
    • Hands on mechanical or electronics engineering with a focus on problem solving, building/testing of real prototypes and demonstrating practical solutions.

    Your Skills and Expertise 

    To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering related discipline from an accredited institution with a predicted 2:1 minimum
    • Completed at least 2 years study of a bachelor’s degree or 3 years of a master’s degree by summer 2022
    • The right to work in the UK

    Additional skills that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

    • Designing, building, and testing prototypes
    • Experience in the use of Computer Aided Engineering Tools
    • Experience of working in a laboratory environment
    • Fast comprehension, analytical thinking and result-oriented working method
    • Creativity, innovative thinking and acting (lateral thinking)
