Your new team

You will be a part of European Energy UK Limited, consisting of 16 colleagues working throughout the UK. You would be based with a team of 7 in our office in Glasgow. We are a committed and motivated team where knowledge sharing, trust, and open dialogues describe the very core of our collaboration. Our project pipeline in the UK is in rapid growth and you will be hands-on supporting our Development Managers with many technical, organisational, and commercial aspects.

Your new role

As our new Student Assistant you will play an important role in the delivery of solar (PV) and onshore wind projects in the UK. Working closely to support Development Managers, our Project Lawyer and EPC team, you will provide GIS and mapping support for various aspects of projects, from early-stage land identification and evaluation, collating surveys and analysis to supporting planning applications, through to drawings and mapping to support the construction and operational phases of projects.

Areas of responsibility

  • Collaborate within cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, contractors, and the risk team to maintain the highest standards of H&S and Quality on the project.
  • Identifying, managing and evaluating constraints to support the identification of new opportunities
  • Managing datasets of publicly available information
  • Digitising and managing property boundaries
  • Utilising analysis and property information to define potential project boundaries
  • Creating plans to support legally binding property agreements
  • Collaborating with external consultants to ensure we maintain up to date datasets
  • Creating plans and drawings to support project development activities, tracking environmental information as it is identified
  • Supporting the design and construction of projects through the creation of constraints plans

Your profile

  • You will be working towards a bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification in an Environmental, Town and Country Planning, or Engineering discipline, or completed this and seeking a part-time role to gain practical experience.
  • You will have strong GIS skills, and be able to manage and analyse data to create high quality plans from day 1 – it is not envisaged significant training would be provided in the use of GIS
  • Autocad or similar experience would be an advantage, especially working interchangeably between GIS & Autocad
  • You have an analytical mind, with the ability to understand projects and risks, with a logical approach to organising information.
  • You are highly proficient with Excel, and other Microsoft products. Power BI would be an advantage.
  • You will be a self-starter, with an ability to learn independently, expanding your knowledge and develop techniques to solve problems.
  • You will ideally have experience of a project work environment, preferably in a project development or consultancy setting.
  • Having knowledge of onshore wind and PV projects from an engineering, environmental, or consenting perspective would be advantageous.
  • You are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
  • You can work independently and be self-motivated within a supportive & collaborative company
  • You are a creative problem solver
  • You have a pro-active and diligent approach
