    The role

    Remember Robot Wars? Now’s your chance to help plan, manage and promote a fighting robot competition just like it.

    Your role will see you working directly with Accu and our partners at FightFest to plan, manage and promote our featherweight fighting robot championship, taking place at Magna Science Adventure Centre, Sheffield on the 24th - 26th August 2024.

    Please note: being available to attend and help to run the event on these days would be preferable but is not essential.

    You’ll combine creativity, technical understanding and practical event operation skills to deliver a world-class live combative robot competition, hosted in a nationally recognised event space.

    Responsibilities

    • Regular check-ins with the event team - brainstorming and developing promotional ideas, discussing priorities and working to schedule.
    • Vendor Communications - work with third party companies to confirm logistics, delivery dates and co-ordination of event deliverables.
    • Event Calendar Management - to monitor, maintain and update a shared calendar for the event team, scheduling meetings both internally and with vendors.
    • Marketing & Promotion Tasks - collaborate on the marketing strategy, with the aim of selling tickets to the event by preparing promotional content, scheduling social media posts & engaging with potential attendees.
    • Ticketing Oversight - monitor ticket sales through online platforms, assisting the event team to track attendance targets.
    • Event Material Preparation - help to prepare, design and distribute event content such as merchandise posters, flyers and PR, both digital and print. Ensure that all materials reflect the event’s branding and are ready for distribution on the day of the event.
    • Participant Management - assist with communications to competitors using platforms such as Discord. This also involves sending out regular updates to participants regarding event scheduling, rules, and preparation tips.
    • Feedback Loop Creation - collect feedback from event team, third party vendors and attendees post event, helping us to prepare for the following year.

    Essential/ desirable skills

    Essential:

    • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team and networking with event stakeholders.
    • Creative thinker with a knack for problem-solving and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in using modern office software (we use Google suite) and event management tools (i.e. eventbrite).

    Desirable:

    • Proven technical skills in video editing, graphic design/ motion graphics & social media management would be preferable.
    • Passion for robotics and technology (particularly Robot Wars or Battlebots) is a plus.

    Qualifications / study requirements

    • Recent graduate or currently completing a degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing or a similar field.
