We are looking for undergraduates who are looking to do a placement year in the Rating Test Team which sits within the Pricing and Analytics area of our multi-award winning business. While based at our global headquarters in Cardiff, the Rating team practices a hybrid working philosophy, where individuals are able to work in the office or from home with flexible working hours.
Job Purpose
We are looking for high achieving STEM students to spend their placement year with us starting in September 2023! You will be working as a Rating Test Automator, and will spend time working with the various Pricing teams supporting with ongoing development and testing of changes and fixes. This post would suit someone with an interest in computers and computer programming, as it is expected that you will spend a proportion of your time working with our developing automated test systems, as well as designing and executing manual tests. This will be a heavily IT orientated role.
Main Duties (you will be trained and supported through all of these):
- A genuine interest in computing, the dedication to research and come up with ideas of your own, and the desire to increase your own knowledge. If you have a passion for coding and technology in your spare time, then we would also like to hear from you.
- The ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Be logical in your thinking and have a natural flair for mathematical and puzzle problem solving.
- Have a patient and methodical approach to your work.
- Be able to work to tight deadlines.
- Have a genuine interest in learning more about our business as a whole, the various departments, and over time their practices and procedures and how this relates to pricing.
- Be highly organised.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written are required for this role.
- Also having the right attitude and desire to stretch yourself is just as important.
Essential Skills
- We would require that the successful applicant already has experience and familiarity with the Java programming language and working within an IDE. We will not be in a position to teach Java from the ground up.
- An understanding of test methodology and its role within the SDLC, including agile techniques.
Desirable Skills
- Any experience with any of the following would also be advantageous: JMeter, intelliJ, SOAP UI, XML , SQL, Jenkins.
