The AECOM UK Development Infrastructure team in St Albans is looking for an enthusiastic Development Infrastructure Engineer to expand its current team profile and capability.

About the role

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will play an important role within the team including overseeing junior team members working to support the delivery of projects. This role will suit an excellent communicator and team player and will provide the opportunity for you to work closely with private and public sector clients of all types and across all sectors locally, regionally and globally as well as other internal and external multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

The St Albans team has an established track record of successfully delivering high profile development and infrastructure schemes and has a truly multi-disciplinary capability. The multi-disciplinary nature of the UK Development Infrastructure team means that we lead on a variety of projects from inception (due diligence, master planning support and scheme viability - including drainage, flooding, utilities and highways), through to detailed design, value engineering, design delivery, project management, execution and handover.

What you'll do

As a Development Infrastructure Engineer, you will:

  • Develop technical designs to support S38, S278 and S104 submissions
  • Undertake a variety of technical assessments for new development
  • Manage and undertake the gathering and review of planning data
  • Explain technical concepts to others including more junior colleagues and Clients
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups
  • Manage small (or elements of larger) projects, managing the production of analysis and associated outputs, ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to an excellent standard;
  • Provide updates to project managers/directors in terms of the progress of tasks in line with programmes

Minimum requirements

For this role we are looking for a strong combination of the following:

  • Have knowledge and experience of S278 and S38 schemes including detailed highway design
  • Have knowledge and experience of S104 schemes including detailed drainage design and hydraulic modelling
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Suitable experience in the preparation and/or review of highways and drainage design
  • Suitable experience in the building of and/or review of hydraulic models using Micro Drainage
  • Suitable experience in AutoCAD, Civils 3D,
  • Experience in traffic signage and road marking for highways schemes
  • Fluent in the use of Excel or similar packages to analyse data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Suitable knowledge of relevant design standards including DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, local road standards and relevant national planning policy
  • Ability to handle the project management of smaller tasks and projects, including cost control, project schedules and liaising with and presenting to Clients

Preferred qualifications

  • Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (desirable)
  • Experience of liaising with Clients and stakeholder engagement (desirable)
  • Full UK drivers license
