At our beautiful Harwell campus site, near Oxford, we have an opportunity for a Graduate Electronic/Mechatronic Engineer to join our outstanding Manufacturing Engineering team within Agilent-s Molecular Spectroscopy business. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, multidisciplinary team, and help to deliver innovative products to market in a world-class way, from concept to completion.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the Product Development process with a specific viewpoint towards production, including influencing the design of the product to ensure Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Text, etc. (DFX), conformance with the global supply chain, product test methodology and tester development, enabling prototyping in R-D, testing the reliability of prototypes, and managing the transition into production.
- Requires hands-on, practical, build-test-and-troubleshoot skills on a range of prototypes of differing levels of sophistication. Eg. from early breadboard to production prototype to support successful NPI release.
- Some PCA assembly, fault finding and repair, Surface Mount Tech soldering, cable-form assembly / modification required to support prototyping in the R-D environment.
- Interpret - Create - Check technical drawings related to PCA-s and cable-form assemblies.
- Work closely with NPI technicians on failure troubleshooting, provide WI (Work Instruction) update and training.
- Supporting the design and development of tools, fixtures and automation initiatives as required. LabVIEW coding experience a big plus.
- Provide engineering support by establishing effective work instructions and controls of critical process - test parameters, maintaining bill of materials, and setting up routing hours at NPI stage
- Partner with procurement and technical services to improve/sustain products and processes.
- May direct the work of third-party vendors and/or partners to meet contract specified deliverables, performance or business objectives.
- May work with suppliers to ensure achievement of goals for cost, quality and delivery of parts and materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent.
- No prior experience required; may have up to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Able to define, measure, analyze, implement, and control the problem in a systematic way and using broad engineering tools and concepts to arrive at a resolution.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and strong understanding on measurement error and uncertainty.
- Looking for candidate with diligence, high curiosity, perseverance, attention to detail, initiative - high level of accountability
- Good interpersonal skills (in verbal and writing) for engagement with multi-functional teams.
- Must possess strong engineering and analytical skills, as well as hardware troubleshooting skills
