    Get to know the business

    The Internal Audit Group protects AIG through assurance work and partners with stakeholders to provide objective advice and insight. The group assists the company in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of AIG’s control environment, including risk management, operational, internal control, and governance processes. In addition, we proactively engage with stakeholders by monitoring progress of transformation/change initiatives and provide valuable advice and insight that contribute to moving these initiatives forward.

    As a Summer Intern in Internal Audit, you will collaborate with AIG business area and functional stakeholders, IAG and other assurance teams to:

    • Gain a well-rounded understanding of how AIG operates by participating in audit projects covering different departments and functions
    • Assist in identifying and analyzing the key inherent risks in the stakeholder’s business and the key controls that management has implemented to mitigate their risks
    • Participate in the full audit lifecycle including planning, testing of controls, reporting and issue verification
    • Learn AIG’s Global Audit Methodology and professional standards for audit engagements

    About the role

    AIG’s summer interns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the 10-week program. As a summer intern, you will work with industry leaders on dynamic projects, with ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.

    After initial orientation and training, summer interns will join one of our business lines, which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse and global environment. In addition to the experience acquired on the job, summer interns have the opportunity to hear directly from senior management and participate in webinars, discussion forums and networking receptions.

    Upon finishing the internship, you may be considered for a full-time analyst role beginning in the summer of 2025.

    What we’re looking for

    AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry. 

    We also look for a diverse background of experience, culture and thought. Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a team-oriented track record.

    Required

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received in June 2025

    Program dates

    Our 2024 UK Summer Internship Program will run from 17th June to 23rd August 2024

    Locations

    Early Career Summer Intern positions are in-person opportunities and are available in Croydon, London. When we work in the office, we experience greater connections with opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and learn together.
