An exciting opportunity has arisen for an intern in the A330/A340 Systems Programme team (Landing Gear/Fuel) as a Project Leader. The aim is to develop skills in Project Management in the Fuel Systems area of the A330 Systems Programme Management team.
The A330/A340 Programme offers an interesting and challenging environment that covers the spectrum of aircraft activities from new developments, support to aircraft build and deliveries, supporting a large in service fleet with technical issues and managing an ageing aircraft fleet.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for people who would like to expand their knowledge and develop in a Project Leader role and gain Project Leader experience in the A330 Programme Management Team.
This is an interesting area of the business and successful candidates will be able to develop an understanding of the whole business and how it operates as well as working on some quite technical projects. The activities are varied and very interesting.
What you will be doing
The Systems Project Leader will assist in managing a number of projects and tasks within the Systems area. This will be achieved by integrating with the various stakeholder functions to ultimately deliver Programme priorities. The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in leading some activities within their portfolio, delivering work packages in line with agreed planning to ensure they achieve challenging time, cost and quality objectives;
- Ensuring that processes are in place and implemented to ensure clear project direction within the cross functional teams to ultimately deliver to time, cost & quality. External integration of Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Customer Services functions as well as external supplier management are key to achieving the deliverables;
- Reporting to the Programme Management Team (Filton), and develop good facilitation and co-ordination skills, in order to ensure that good lines of communication exist across the Wide Body Programme (A330 and A350 Teams);
- Providing regular progress reporting and escalating issues that need to be resolved cross functionally.
Key end results include ensuring project costs remain within budgets, customer priorities and expectations are managed, and that development and modification projects are delivered to the declared target or Point of Embodiment.
This must be achieved whilst taking a global ‘best for business’ management approach and adhering to Programme Management and Configuration Management processes. This role may involve some travel for business and as such you should be able to travel accordingly.
Requirements
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and competences:
- Educated in a technical subject related to Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
- Strong team player;
- Self motivated, ability to work independently and eager to learn;
- Experience of managing projects;
- Good understanding of technical subjects;
- Able to understand specifications, design drawings and technical details;
- Ability to work in a transnationally managed environment;
- Ability to influence and lead multi-functional teams;
- Experience in facilitating, co-ordinating and directing meetings.
