    About us

    Do you have a passion for Design and looking to work within the Space industry?

    You will be joining the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) at Airbus Defence & Space in Stevenage. Responsible to contribute to a high degree of CAD competence in spacecraft design & accommodation including Detailed Design within an engineering group or Project team environment.

    What will you be doing?

    During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include;

    • Contribute to the production of drawings, models, assembly models, Bill of Materials, Engineering Change Notes, emails, memos related to the Configured items for the allocated project(s) to cost and schedule as delegated by the Lead Design Engineer. 
    • Control, correctness, accuracy and relevance of the above are to be self checked using checklists and CATIA MDO procedures.
    • Support to other general Design Office activities i.e. process improvements, bids etc.

    Please note our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

    Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

    • Working knowledge and experience of based CAD Design
    • Engineering & technical background including working knowledge of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and DFM (Design for Manufacture).
    • Practical understanding of Design solutions.
