    Working in our ADG (Advanced Development Group) the candidate will benefit from working within a team of leading edge communication (SDR) and software/firmware specialists. The ADG group spearhead our innovative unique solutions, using the latest technology available.

    You will work on embedded software and/or firmware projects in the field of communications and SDR (Software Defined Radio) and will form part of a fast moving team developing unique projects to some of our most important customers. The role could focus on either embedded software or firmware development or a combination of both.

    Tasks

    Main activities of the role may include;

    • Group activities to analyse customer need and define a solution
    • Development of Software or Firmware prototypes in an agile environment.
    • Testing of solutions, including lab and field testing.
    • Support demonstration of solution to customers.
    • Further Development of proven prototypes to a deployment standard.

    Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

    Experience of some of the following although training and support will be given across these areas.

    • Appropriate bachelor’s degree with modules covering some aspects of these requirements. (E.g. Computer Science, Digital Electronics or similar)
    • VHDL and/or Verilog field programmable gate array (FPGA) firmware development;
    • Embedded System Firmware (FPGA) modelling, simulation and debugging;
    • Embedded Software Development  (e.g. Microblaze or RISC-V) using C/C++ on Linux
    • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Xilinx Vivado, Vivado HLS, HDL Coder, SysML, GNU/Linux and Agile (JIRA/Confluence Wiki/Bitbucket);
    • Interest/experience in Waveform, DSP and/or Software Defined Radio;
