Job Description

The Simulation and Modelling division comprises departments in the UK, France and Germany. The division provides a central competence for Functional Verification Infrastructure (FV-I) relating to all the activities associated with the creation and support of numerical (software) and hybrid (part software, part hardware) simulators and test benches that are used for satellite functional verification. These simulators and test benches are vital for the success of spacecraft avionics programmes, such as Solar Orbiter and the Rosalind Franklin Mars Rover.

We have a number of existing and new innovative projects that require software engineering skills that contribute to the team and shape the design of high quality software and new products.

We are looking for a talented and creative engineer who is flexible, self-motivated and hard working to join our team based in Stevenage. We want you to apply your problem solving and software engineering skills towards the design and development of complex software solutions for the spacecraft industry.

Tasks

You will design, develop and integrate specific modules of the simulator as well as support the technical exchange between external teams involved in the development of the simulator. You will work closely with the engineering teams to ensure the successful development and use of the test benches.

The main technical activities include:

  • Technical requirements analysis
  • Software design and implementation
  • Technical follow up with external teams
  • System integration
  • Testing and delivery of the benches

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Object Oriented analysis & design using UML (or similar)
  • Knowledge on numerous software technologies, predominately C++ & Java
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with an ability to explain technical things to non-technical people
  • Software development process knowledge
  • Best practice design patterns and effective coding practices
  • Working with Unix/Linux
