    This is an exciting opportunity to join the Engineering team responsible for the major payload equipment on Airbus Telecommunications Satellites. The Equipment Specialist team has responsibility for the technical performance of hardware sourced from suppliers all over the world.

    From the initial bid phase through to successful delivery the team are responsible for equipment specification, qualification and successful completion of major design reviews in front of the end customer for the satellite. With a 15 year life 36,000km from Earth, we have to demonstrate to our customers every aspect of the design and performance will meet their needs before launch.

    Telecommunication payloads are highly complex providing critical services globally to many end users. As part of the Airbus team focused on the equipment you have an opportunity to learn and contribute to payloads that are currently in production in Portsmouth. We are a team that works closely with all areas of the business from the end customer, procurement, suppliers, specialist engineers and project teams. Whether you work on our latest flexible payload ‘ONESAT’ or a very large geostationary payload you will be part of a dedicated community of Engineers and support staff.

    What you will be doing

    You will support the day to day business of payload equipment engineering providing an opportunity to learn about all the different types of active and passive equipment and gaining an appreciation of the overall payload. The tasks will be varied and require you to use different skills (technical, data management, communication etc.) in order to complete them successfully.
