    The Planning & Scheduling community ensures that Airbus Broughton (one of the largest high value manufacturing sites in the UK) has the capacity and capability to deliver the Airbus wing production requirements, in accordance with aircraft commercial delivery dates.

    We work closely with the Operations teams to provide manufacturing build schedules, resource plans, production build reporting, and scenario analysis. We are key to providing the senior management team with the data required to enable them to make important strategic and tactical decisions.

    The Planning department is responsible for producing and maintaining the long term MPS (Master Production Schedule) for all the products across in the Broughton plant, using build rates based on customer demand.

    The scheduling of parts and materials for production is generated through this process. Tactical build plans are also created, which are used to optimise production in the shorter term. It is the Programme Planning team who monitors the adherence to the build plan, whilst ensuring it is achievable.  

    What you will be doing

    The tasks will be varied and require you to use different skills (technical, project management, communication, etc.) in order to complete them successfully. These will include elements of:

    • Master Production Scheduling (MPS);
    • Planning assumption agreement;
    • Refinement and optimisation of the production build plans;
    • Tactical planning & work package monitoring;
    • Capacity and resource calculations;
    • Recovery planning;
    • Scenario analysis;
    • Compilation of key performance indicators (KPI’s) for reporting and monitoring of the business.

    Good planning and project management skills are a solid grounding for many future roles. This opportunity to develop and grow should appeal to people looking to expand their business knowledge and network through to senior management.

    Requirements

    Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application. To be a successful candidate you need to:

    • Studying towards a degree in Business, Project Management, Operations or related field;
    • Proficient oral and written communication skills;
    • Collaborates well within a team;
    • Able to interface with other functions;
    • A keenness to learn and develop;
    • Experience using Google suite or similar digital tools.
