    Job Description

    The Finance NextGen Programme is an Airbus Defence & Space-wide development programme. This programme is designed to identify and develop talented Leaders for the Airbus Finance Community who will contribute significantly towards achieving our business goals. The Finance NextGen Programme - sponsored by Airbus Defence & Space' CFO - enables its participants to enhance financial know-how and expertise, combined with further learning in management and leadership competencies.

    The mission of the programme:

    • Fostering and deepening participants’ financial knowledge and expertise on the Airbus world of Finance, enlarging the scope to the international financial context
    • Linking formal learning with rotating, real-business project assignments
    • Increasing participants’ project management and leadership competencies
    • Encouraging networking, job shadowing, mobility and cross-cultural experiences
    • Mentorship from a member of the Finance Top Management
    • Invitation to a Airbus Defence & Space Finance Conference

    This Program consists of two assignments in two different countries. Each assignment lasts for a period of two years. They are combined with off-the-job modules, designed to strengthen participant’s management and financial competencies.

    Tasks & Accountabilities

    Accountabilities

    Within the Airbus Defence and Space Programme Controlling Team the job holder’s main responsibilities are to:

    • Produce monthly financial reporting on project Key Financial Performance Indicators
    • The jobholder acts as a Business partner, supporting Programme Management and provides inputs on all cost aspects of their project work packages
    • The jobholder ensures that the business actively manages it’s adherence to Estimates At Completion (EAC) in order to achieve project financial targets
    • To support other controllers in analysis, investigations, data automation and ad-hoc requests
    • To support the Programme Controlling community in transnational projects and ensure common ways of working, e.g. next generation SAP ERP system
    • To contribute to savings/improvements projects

    Main activities

    • Produce monthly financial reports on payload projects, comparing Actuals against Budget and Forecast [Order Intake, Revenues, Margin, Cost, & Cash]
    • Overseeing and ensuring foreign currency coverage for the programme and to respond to the reporting requirements of treasury.
    • Organise and run monthly project cost reviews with work package managers and the project manager
    • Manage the allocation of cost to work packages and analyse deviations with the inputs from the work package managers and project manager.
    • Maintain an awareness of the Risks and Opportunities on the projects and actively support Risk Mitigation and Opportunity Attainment.
    • Work alongside your projects to ensure on time financial milestone achievement, then organise billing of the milestones with the Accounts department.
    • Update SAP every quarter to publish the programme EAC, cost, Gross Margin, and Revenue position.
    • Forecasting of project resourcing/manpower requirements using outputs from the monthly cost reviews.

    Outputs

    • The jobholder produces monthly financial KPI and detailed cost by work package reports to help ensure the business achieves it’s financial targets.
    • The jobholder ensures the full visibility of financial performance using a combination of SAP BI and Excel based harmonised tools.
    • Monitoring performance against EAC and Budgets.
    • Measure projects performance via collection, consolidation and synthesis of performance indicators. Manage performance through root cause analysis, risks/opportunities identification, recommendations in order to enable decision making. Identify financial improvement projects to reach targeted performance. Support internal and external best practices identification & sharing

    Required Skills

    We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

    • Educated to honours degree or equivalent in mathematics, sciences, finance or business from a major University or Business School.
    • An ability to think analytically is important for this financial role, therefore a high level of academic achievement can be more important than the specific subjects studied
    • High proficiency with MS Excel. Highly numerate and computer literate. Financially aware with high business partnering acumen.
    • Critical thinking & ability to constructively challenge the operational business. Excellent team working skills.
    • Good communication skills — an ability to make finance important to non-finance people and to make complex issues understandable.
    • Experience required (e.g. work experience / clubs / societies / charity work / hobbies etc.): International Work Experience highly desired
    • Demonstration of a strong work ethic is essential
    • Hobbies ad/or extra curricular activities demonstrating teamwork / entrepreneurial spirit / digital mindset/ global business awareness would be advantageous
    • Languages: English negotiation level, and at least one other Airbus language)
