About us
The Support to Ground team are responsible for the design, development, manufacturing and maintenance of laboratory test means (LTM) within the Systems Integration Test perimeter. The team is transnational with elements present in Toulouse, Hamburg, Bremen and Filton. The scope of LTM’s covered includes:
- Virtual Platforms
- Functional Integration Benches/System Integration Benches
- Type 0 means (e.g. LG 0) representative of the aircraft
- Ad-hoc test benches for various purposes (e.g. rapid prototyping)
The main activities performed by the various teams are:
Laboratory test means support, which includes
- Test Mean design and development for new test rigs
- Maintenance and evolution of current test rigs
- Maintenance and Development of the Test Management System 1 (TMS) and associated software:
- Development and testing of new releases of TMS
- Integration of new hardware (e.g. I/O board)
- Bug fixing
- Obsolescence management of hardware and software
- Contributing to the IVY future test strategy:
- Support projects seeking to promote standards for communication protocols and interfaces
- Support projects seeking to increase the levels of automation within testing
- Innovate new features for test benches (e.g. Test bench interconnection, Predictive health monitoring)
The department strategy fully supports the Integration and Flight Test center’s vision to develop a ‘single test team’ identity covering all tests from Supplier to Flight Test.
The jobholder will be a member of a Group in the Support to Ground department in Filton, working in close relationship with the corresponding test teams.
What will you be doing
The successful applicant will be integrated in the Support to Ground department within the design and/or maintenance groups of the department. Typically the role could involve:
- Directly supporting the development and maintenance of the Test Management System
- Activities could include design and development of new software features, eg. GUIs
- Testing new releases of TMS with hardware, eg. new IO, databus
- Support and troubleshooting of software issues on test benches
- Activities carried out could involve any Airbus commercial aircraft programme, another Airbus entity programme or R&T work.
Furthermore, significant opportunities to develop ‘soft’ skills will be available throughout the scheme by supporting and conducting a range of development tasks including school liaison events and departmental activities.

Essential
- Master’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree with relevant work experience, in Computer Science or similar
- Experience in one or multiple programming language(s); C/C++, Java, TCL, Python
- Particular interest for software and/or electronics technical tasks
- Excited by the technical challenges and problem solving, with a good amount of curiosity to understand how things are made
- Committed to deliver on time, cost and quality
- Good interpersonal skills and experience of working as a team and autonomously
- English – Negotiation level
