The Broughton Plant provides the Wings for around half of all aircraft deliveries across the world each year. The world flies on our Wings!

We are a highly motivated team of Engineers working in an open and trusting environment. We are focused on constantly challenging the current design and conventional thinking in order to maximise profitability whilst ensuring the quality is not degraded.
We are a team of Structural Engineers who are a mixture of technical experts and program managers who are all passionate about finding technical solutions to support the structures department. We are an ideal mix of people who can help you develop technically and personally in the role and we are looking for Design Interns to come and join our team.
What you will be doing
- Design of composite and metallic Wing structures across various Airbus programmes;
- Create design schemes, frontier and interfaces drawings and Data for manufacture (component drawings);
- Assess design solutions within the time, cost and quality parameters and manage offload to suppliers if necessary;
- Ensure the structural design meets programme airworthiness and product requirements and in line with cascaded Design Quality Assurance Criteria;
- Define, deliver and enable technical studies, trades and investigations to ensure the delivery of technical solutions in accordance with relevant Design methods and procedures;
- Provide direct engineering support to the production line to ensure minimal disruption to the wing build;
- Provide and develop innovative projects to improve the Plant environment.
Requirements
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following
- You are studying towards an Engineering Degree or Equivalent;
- You are a motivated self-driven and resilient individual who has the ability to work autonomously;
- You are able to deliver whilst also embracing change, and challenge where appropriate;
- You will integrate and engage with technical experts and specialists to achieve optimum technical and business solutions;
- You have the ability to listen, understand and communicate information clearly to your team and stakeholders;
- You show an innovative mindset and apply free thinking with a degree of curiosity to explore new ideas.
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and competences
- Willingness to learn how to propose solutions and solve problems;
- Willingness to learn basic metallic and composite structures;
- Willingness to learn design toolsets i.e. CATIA V5, ICC, Zamiz, ECM, Optegra & PASS, Google Sheets, Slides and Docs;
- Preferably experience in developing IT solutions associated with engineering activities;
- Support team to analyse, propose and solve technical problems;
- Ensure delivery of own tasks whilst adhering to time, cost and quality parameters;
- Good communication skills and a drive to deliver customer value and quality.
