This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Airbus Wing Research & Technology (R&T) Engineering team, based in Filton, UK. You will be part of a self-empowered and highly engaged team who are committed to developing successful airframe solutions, working toward and developing sustainable green aircraft R&T studies for our future aircraft.
The role
We collaborate with other Airbus research teams from across Europe and are jointly developing wing technologies with selected industry partners from around the world.
Looking to the future, as aerospace enters a period where air travel is under strong environmental consideration, you will contribute to the design and development of key new technologies supporting the Airbus strategy on sustainability and low emission travel. The Wing R&T are currently working at the forefront of structural engineering advancement across multiple exciting projects looking at innovative design concepts for our Future Wings and then testing them at our new AirTec Centre at Filton.
What will you be doing?
- Working on WingBox Full Scale Static Stress Test using Airbus methods and tools.
- Input required updates into the Virtual Test Model and concessions develop.
- Document Test equipment requirements, such as Fibre optics routing/locations.
- Understanding of Impact Damages on the Wing Box using the Virtual Test Model predictions.
Responsibilities will include:
- Documentation of detailed planning with milestones in collaboration with the Head of Engineering.
- Manage Integration activities with stakeholders, Risk Sharing Partners and External Engineering Service companies. Performing monitoring/guidance/support to Sub-contracting firms providing structural stress work.
- Communicating with relevant stakeholders, i.e. Programme, Wing Architects, Manufacturing Plant, Procurement, etc.
- Be able to provide structural inputs to enable creative innovative designs and repair/acceptance of damaged structures.
- Be able to give inputs to continuously develop ways of working to enable increased levels of automation, enable digitalization to enhance our technical solutions.

- You have been studying for a relevant engineering or technical degree.
- A working knowledge on aircraft development.
- Good working knowledge of composite and metallic structure.
- Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems with an innovative approach.
- A strong interest in developing yourself.
- The desire to work in a technical team environment with practical problem solving ability.
- Able to draw conclusions based on evidence in a systematic and organized way of working.
- The ability to listen, understand and communicate information.
