An exciting opportunity for a work placement within the Tooling and Metrology department in Broughton for an innovative and hard working individual.

We are a driven team of experienced and time served Airbus professionals, who strive to ensure the business is benchmark in all its fields and providing top quality service to our customers.The team is made up of time served machinists, tool makers, measurement specialists, joiners, welders and electricians whose specialist skills are required to support the production build. We have many specialist machines/equipment and are also working with the latest technology to improve our processes.We work across all aircraft variants on the site. Networking with customers and stakeholder management is key for us. We are looking for someone confident with really good people skills, who can be self motivated, proactive and willing to learn about the Airbus philosophy.
What will you be doing
You will learn all about what the Tooling and Metrology world within Airbus has to offer and have the chance to use your skills to work closely with the teams and implement change and improvement. The role will put you at the centre of Wing Jig Recertification, Wing Metrology Measurements and critical aircraft machining tasks. You will gain knowledge and understanding of all airbus variants across the site due to the diverse work we carry out . You will work with a variety of different people both inside the team and around the plant and will have the opportunity to support and autonomously run projects across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People as well as Continuous Improvement and strategy.
During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include;
- Safety related topics like Risk Assessments, PUWER, LOLER and safety audits in our production environments
- Working with the Quality team on Process Confirmations, asset care plans and root cause analysis tools (Practical Problem Solving)
- Help with team engagement initiatives and the employee involvement scheme, as well as environment and sustainability projects
- Represent the tooling business at drumbeat reviews and be a focal point for our customers, which will develop communication, business agility and problem solving skills
Your ideas and support will also play a valuable part in defining our long term strategy, including the introduction of new technologies. Working with different areas of the business will help you to develop presentation, networking and stakeholder management skills that will be required and will be valuable in future career opportunities.
You will also learn about Airbus Operating System's and Lean principles which will be at the forefront of all projects to ensure the best possible outcomes can be achieved.
