Our London office is a fast-paced environment, anchored by a steadfast commitment to the value of teamwork. By working together, we challenge ourselves to elevate our thinking and provide innovative solutions. Practitioners at every level love to collaborate and teach.

Top-Notch Training

Our trainees learn through an immersive hands-on experience, working side by side with senior practitioners on high-profile transactions and disputes. You will be integral to our team and take on early responsibility.

Choose to sit within the financial restructuring, corporate/M&A, energy, finance, financial regulatory, funds/investment management, litigation/arbitration, competition or tax practice areas. An England and Wales qualified senior lawyer supervises you, and you’ll receive many opportunities to work with lawyers in multiple jurisdictions. Seats can be tailored to durations of six or three months across the two-year training programme to provide a breadth of experience. In addition, you may take advantage of tailored international secondment opportunities.

What you'll need

Applicants must have a strong and consistent academic record and be on track for, or have obtained, a 2:1 degree at minimum. You’ll need to demonstrate you are solution-driven and interested in fast-paced business law.

Successful candidates take an online assessment to be considered for an interview with our graduate recruitment panel. After interviewing, the final stage will include practical written assessments.

NB: Trainee Solicitor roles unfortunately cannot be included in the firm’s Tier 2 sponsorship quota, and we therefore are unable to provide sponsorship opportunities for trainee roles.

Apply by 11 July 2021 for our trainee solicitor programme commencing 2023. We screen training contract applications on a rolling basis after the Vacation Scheme application process closes.

*BIG TIP* Tell us in your own words what attracts you to Akin Gump and how our practices and client focus match your own commercial interests and career aspirations. (Don’t waste the application word count telling us facts we already know about our firm.)
