Training to become a qualified accountant is a rewarding and challenging career and can open up a whole host of opportunities for you.

We have a number of year-long work placement opportunities available, where you can experience life as a trainee accountant during your year in industry. You’ll work alongside other trainees and our experienced and knowledgeable teams, to really give you a flavour of what a graduate role with Albert Goodman could look like.

Albert Goodman have 5 offices across the South West; Taunton, Yeovil, Weymouth, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. Whilst completing your application you will be able to select which of these locations you’d like to be considered for. Please note that a majority of these opportunities will be available in our Taunton office.

A successful industry placement with AG can often lead to a permanent offer of employment for when you graduate, and we have a number of colleagues who joined us via this route.

What’s involved?

These roles will be starting in summer 2024, and you will be with us for up to a year. We would also consider shorter term summer placements as well.

You will be an integral member of the team, providing a professional service to clients and gaining the hands-on experience needed to become a qualified accountant.

We work across a variety of sectors and have a range of specialist teams. As part of our recruitment process, you’ll have the opportunity to make us aware of any departments which are of particular interest to you, and we can also look at matching your talents to one of our teams. These include:

  • Audit
  • Tax
  • Trusts & Estates
  • Farms & Estates

What we need from you

  • You can be studying any degree qualification which involves a year in industry, although a passion and interest in this sector is a must
  • For you to be a confident and collaborative team player
  • The ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service to clients
  • Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
  • Happy working accurately with figures
