    About the role

    This placement lands you right in the heart of our Finance and HR national IT team. Your objectives will be spread across those two areas to give you a real in-depth understanding of what it means to work in IT. You’ll be there to support, maintain and even develop our systems, ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines and regulations. As an NIT IP you’ll be responsible for providing first and second line support alongside incident co-ordination for all applications within the Finance and Administration area. In addition, you’ll carry out tasks around request and release management and knowledge management. You’ll get stuck in with projects to improve our software in line with business demand, helping manage those End to End. Many of the opportunities available will depend on the business needs at the time. And, trust us, there’s always plenty going on at Aldi - our business is constantly growing and developing.

    Responsibilities

    • First and second level support to National Finance and Administration Teams
    • Incident and Request Coordination for applications within the area of responsibility
    • Escalation of issues to internal support functions and direct leader, or to the International IT department when necessary
    • End-to-end ownership of project delivery
    • Responsible for creating and managing (monitoring, review and amending timelines) project plans
    • Risk and Issue Management to identify and mitigate and resolve risks and issues
    • Maintaining an appropriate incident log
    • Maintaining an understanding of the user requirements and open issues for areas of responsibility
    • Testing software to verify whether newly implemented requirements and existing functionality operate without error
    • Creating plans for software installations and maintenance programmes in conjunction with International IT Teams, national stakeholders and external suppliers as needed
    • Supporting with administration tasks such as maintaining invoice and budget trackers
    • Participating and supporting project activities

    What you'll need

    Please note that our Placement Programmes are for university students currently studying towards an undergraduate degree, who are seeking a 12-month sandwich placement before their final year of study.

    You’ll need to be working towards a 2:1 degree, have 96 UCAS points from your top 3 A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications), possess a driving licence and have the right to work in the UK.
