We’re Alfa, the leading provider of software to the global asset finance industry. We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious graduates to join us in the next phase of our journey.
Our two-year long technology consulting graduate programme involves rotational placements, working in Analyst and Junior Software Engineering roles.
New graduate recruits go through an intensive training induction which covers areas such as the asset finance industry, software development and consultancy skills, before being assigned to their first rotation in an implementation or a software engineering role, where they can put their training into practice.
Supervised at all times by more experienced colleagues, new joiners will find that the open culture means they have easy access to senior managers and directors for discussion and guidance. From the very start of their career, our graduates will either help take our product, Alfa Systems, forward or help to change the way our clients' businesses work.
The initial training period will last around ten weeks and the programme will be delivered by colleagues ranging from junior to senior-level. During training, we will teach you about our company, our product (Alfa Systems) as well as the coding skills you need to be a great software engineer or consultant. You will then join a client project team working as an Analyst or join an engineering team working as a Junior Software Engineer.
Those working on client implementation projects will assist their team in modifying business processes for clients, testing the software, transferring data from the client’s old software to Alfa Systems and providing support through the go-live process and into the future. Those working in Product Engineering will be involved in enhancing our software product, gaining experience in our software development life-cycle and learning about a variety of functional and technical areas as their assignment rotates through teams that focus on different aspects of the product.
During the two-year long graduate programme you will rotate across both Analyst and Junior Software Engineering roles, giving you the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in our key business areas. Each rotational placement can be anywhere from 6-12 months in length and once you have spent time working in both areas, we will work with you towards the end of the graduate programme to understand what career path is best for you to go down.
What we look for in our graduates
Although the job entails technology and finance, we don’t require our graduates to have extensive experience in coding or come from a technical or financial background. Our training teaches you all you need to know, but your interest in technology and finance areas must be genuine and you must be able to demonstrate this during the application process. Whilst we consider applications from all disciplines, a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or related business and STEM fields and some experience in programming may help.
A good Alfa recruit has the ability to see an end goal, break down the steps to get there, and put in the effort to achieve it. Therefore, any hard-working and ambitious graduate can be successful as long as they have a logical mind, enjoy working as part of a team, have pride in their work, and see their career immersed in the worlds of both technology and finance.
The vibrant culture at Alfa is underpinned by our core values - and we look for candidates that demonstrate these positive traits: Challenge without being challenging - Let great ideas grow - Make it better together - Create a positive impact.
We do have to set some minimum requirements that you must meet in order to apply, which are
- Achieved all As and Bs at A-level (or equivalent)*
- Achieved or be on course to achieving a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above in any discipline*
- The permanent right to work in the UK without restrictions (Alfa cannot offer visa sponsorship, so your application will not be processed if this applies to you)
*We take extenuating circumstances into account so please mention this in your application if this applies to you
