An exciting opportunity for a 1st or 2nd year undergraduate student to join an established and busy in-house design team specialising in Civil & Structural Design projects predominantly in the rail sector.
About the business unit
The in-house design team consists of specialist designers at various levels of competency responsible for design engineering on a variety of civils, rail and engineering projects and frameworks including CP6, asset management contracts, infrastructure projects and tendered Civils / Electrical and Plant (E&P) / Telecoms schemes.
Within the wider business, projects can typically include bridge re-construction/replacement, repairs, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms etc.), Access for All schemes, structures including bridges, tunnels and footbridges and all associated Telecoms and E&P works typically consisting of display and acoustic systems, plant, mechanical, electrical, power, lighting etc.
About the role
You will work as an integral team member on a variety of tasks such as draughting, calculation, risk assessment, preparation of reports, site attendance to survey infrastructure, recording and presenting results, enabling you to build your technical competence, whilst being fully supported by the team.
You will be currently in your 1st or 2nd year studying towards your bachelor’s degree in a Civil or Structural discipline, and you’ll be on track to achieve at least 2:2.
