    The role

    AMD is looking for a Software Development Intern to join our Interactive Design Tools software team, located in Edinburgh UK, for 2-3 months of the summer academic break. This is an opportunity for a skilled and self-motivated individual to develop applications to help customers assemble, configure and deliver complex systems within AMD’s industry leading Vivado Design Suite.

    The successful candidate will be a key member of a close-knit team of developers based in Edinburgh, with opportunities to network with our colleagues around the globe. In this role you will be working with world-class development, build and test technologies alongside other innovative and motivated people. You will be using the latest C++ standards and will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. Your contributions and expertise will help shape our future software products.

    Key responsibilities

    • Design, develop and verify new software features
    • Review, refactor and improve existing software
    • Participate in peer code and design reviews
    • Demonstrate and present your work to the team

    Preferred experience

    Primary

    • Confident in C++ (or equivalent) programming language
    • Familiarity of Linux and Windows operating systems
    • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Tcl or Python
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Secondary

    • Interest in Hardware Design tools and methodologies
    • Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL languages
    • Exposure to FPGA or ACAP architectures and flows

    Key qualifications

    • Bachelors or Masters undergraduate (year 3+) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or comparable degree
