Established in 1886, Taylor Hobson is an acknowledged global leader in the design & manufacture of high precision surface texture & form measuring instrument based in the UK. Acquired by AMETEK in 2003, TAYLOR HOBSON is part of AMETEK’s Ultra Precision Technologies Division, a leader in the development of ultra-precise measurement devices, precision machining systems, ophthalmic instruments, eye care diagnostic devices, optical lens manufacturing equipment, vibration cancellation systems, and advanced scanners used in reverse engineering, quality assurance and 3D printing.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be contributing towards the development of our mainstream instrumentation software. Areas of work may include:
- Improvements to the UI and its 3D graphics
- Automating software distribution through creating an App store style downloader via the TH website
- Industry 4.0 status and reporting.
- Creation and maintenance of automation algorithms for validating/stress testing moving hardware
Requirements
- Essential skills are a competency in C#.
Desirable skills include knowledge of:
- Source control (e.g. Perforce)
- Wpf
- .Net core
- The development life cycle
- Web Services, IDEs (e.g. Visual Studio)
- OO design
- 3D visualisation.
- MATLAB / other scripting languages
Enrolled in a BSc or MSc Computer Science degree (or equivalent) with an expected 2:1 classification as a minimum. Equivalent courses could be biased towards computer programming, robotics, gaming etc. Uncertified candidates with a strong computer programming backgrounds will also be considered.
