Amey has been working in partnership with Kent County Council since 2013, with a team of 150 operatives we deliver a full range of highways maintenance services from road and footway repairs and improvement schemes to gritting.
They provide 24-hour emergency cover for any incidents on the road network as well as investment in the highway’s infrastructure.
By investing in local infrastructure, Amey aims to improve the county’s highways, benefiting the community and people by keeping the towns and cities moving.
As a Summer Intern Commercial QS Student at Amey's Kent team, you will be ensuring robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at project level/work stream, updating the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans. You will be also helping to ensure that internal commercial processes are adhered across Kent, as well as accurate valuation of subcontract accounts including processing of payments and payment notices in line with the subcontract conditions and deadlines.
You will be responsible for
- Holding a good understanding of the processes and procedures and assisting in their development and improvement.
- Being proactive in the management of subcontract accounts.
- Helping to identify and prepare Early Warnings and Compensation Events to client.
- Contributing towards effective interaction between the Commercial Team and the operational site teams.
- Liaising with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments (but not limited).
Amey's 10-weeks Summer Internship are designed for second and third year undergraduate students looking for practical work experience to support their university studies. You may only be with us for a short time, but we’ll give you valuable work experience and development opportunities, with high performers given the opportunity to join our Graduate Programme.
