Our Opportunity
As a Graduate Civil Engineer here in Amey Transport Infrastructure, you’ll have the unique opportunity to bring high-profile, highway maintenance projects to life. You’ll be given real responsibility from day one, joining a small delivery team of big thinkers who love finding solutions to difficult problems. Your design/delivery solutions will have impact, making a genuine difference to people’s lives, often in the very community where you live.
Based from our Aylesford offices, your two-year Graduate Development Programme provides a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience working alongside our professional and dedicated delivery team of Project Managers and Supervisors, on our major highway maintenance contract with Kent County Council.
You’ll get involved in all aspects of our contract activities. We’ll develop your understanding of our various work schemes that form the annual programme of work for the client, helping to create these programmes, engaging with the design team, through to delivery on site. You’ll engage with our Commercial team on budgets and costings, our Project Managers to ensure Health and Safety requirements are met along with our clients and members of the public and other external stakeholders.
You‘ll be analysing scheme data and trends to provide opportunities to improve our existing processes and identify new ways of working, to ensure we operate in the most organised and efficient way possible.
As you can tell, it’s an exciting and complex role! No two schemes are ever the same, so you’ll constantly learn and develop, gaining new skills and knowledge to deliver the fantastic results that a high profile and socially valuable Highways Maintenance contract demands.
What you will bring
As a Graduate we don’t expect you to bring prior experience of the highway maintenance industry with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities to become a technical expert that you could hope for. However, we want you to share our passion and demonstrate your desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.
We treat people as individuals and want a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve. We therefore keep our essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
- Minimum 2:2 BEng in Civil Engineering
- Available to join the programme from April 2022
- Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally, including commitment to complete the appropriate professional registration in your field (i.e. Chartership – CEng)
- Highly developed IT, data analysis, communication and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, with evidence of practical problem-solving capability
- Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritise time
- A full valid UK Driving Licence is desirable.
If you possess the determination, initiative, and curiosity to become a technical expert in your field, or one of our future leaders, then our graduate development programme could be for you.
