As an Electrification &P Electrical Engineer at Amey Consulting, you’ll see your work from early design to the very result, and every project will be different from the last. You’ll feel inspired to challenge yourself, as well as your colleagues. You’ll collaborate and engage with colleagues through a combination of home and office-based working, delivering projects throughout England and Wales, including the £2.9bn Transpennine Route and Electrification Upgrade (TRU) and the multi-billion-pound Wales and Borders Franchise Contract. The successful candidate will undertake the production of permanent way design, working as part of a dedicated track design engineering team.
From day one you’ll be given real responsibility, gaining invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts and across your team. As a Graduate, you will working alongside the team to deliver the following:
- Actively contributing to site surveys
- Collating technical information from surveys, inspections and other sources (e.g. eB)
- Demonstrating a good understanding of the design process
- Ability to undertake design and assessment work for electrical and lighting installations
- Engaging in CDM/risk analyses
- Undertaking designs to a level that complies with Network Rail, British and European Standards
- Keeping up to date with current Network Rail, British and European Standards
- Preparing design and assessment reports
- Producing design drawings using CAD
- Preparation and/or checking design calculations, contract documentation, drawing production, technical documents and project reports in accordance with the project brief and in compliance with current standards
- Attend meetings with the client and other project related organisations
- Maintain high technical standards, consistent with the project brief and compliance with Amey HSEA requirements

We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
- Minimum 2:2 Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Available to join the programme in September 2023
- We want you to share our passion and desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.
