The Role
We currently have opportunities within our Geotechnical Engineering team. As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you will form part of a wider Geotechnical community of approximately 70 Geotechnical Engineers across Amey Consulting in the UK.
You’ll collaborate and engage with colleagues from a variety of Infrastructure disciplines including Civil Engineering, Highways, Track, Drainage, Signalling and Telecoms, OLE and E&P. Through a combination of home and office-based working you will be involved in delivering geotechnical aspects of projects throughout England and Wales, including the £2.9bn Transpennine Route and Electrification Upgrade (TRU) and the multi-billion-pound Wales and Borders Franchise Contract.
From day one you’ll be given real responsibility, gaining invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts and across your team. As a Graduate, you will working alongside the team to deliver the following:
- Building your expertise by performing desk studies, interpreting and analysing geotechnical data.
- Undertaking Geotechnical design across natural and man-made soil slopes, rock slopes, piled foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement and instrumentation.
- You’ll also look at mining risk assessment and Geotechnical risk management, Geotechnical reporting and investigation design, specification and supervision work.

What will you bring?
As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities to become an expert .
We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
- Minimum 2:2 Degree in BSc in Geology or BEng in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering
- Available to join the programme in September 2023
- We want you to share our passion and desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.
