    Join us and help develop new hardware technologies that can help enrich the lives of millions… Apple is looking for a motivated engineering intern to join the Apple UK Hardware Technology team. This small and multi-disciplinary team works on hardware proof-of-concepts that can feature in future Apple products. Our work is very early stage, combining a mixture of paper studies, simulation and ultimately production of physical demonstrators to prove if a new feature is desirable and feasible. Features may include displays, sensors, actuators and a range of other emerging technologies.

    Key qualifications

    • Technical background in a relevant field, for example optical systems, display technologies, multi-physics modelling, or other electronic applications, etc
    • Strong practical experience and willingness to get hands-on with experiments
    • Preferred Experience:
    • Micro controller programming, e.g. Arduino etc
    • Prototyping and development of optical systems, for example using lasers and sensors
    • Experience of modelling using MATLAB or similar

    Description

    As a Hardware Technology Intern, you will work on technology development and prototyping using custom and off-the-shelf hardware to demonstrate new features. There is a strong practical focus in our team, so hands-on experience and a willingness to prototype new ideas is essential. Apple internships offer successful candidates the opportunity to work on exciting new projects that can feature in future products. You will get the opportunity to apply concepts learnt at university in a start-up like environment working for one of the most recognized companies in the world. Responsibilities include performing system simulation and modelling (optical and electronic) and characterisation experiments using prototypes to verify simulation.

    Education & experience

    Currently pursuing a PhD or Masters in Electronic Engineering, Optics, Materials Science or another related engineering program.
