    Would you love to help us bring surprise and delight to the experience of tens of millions of Apple Music subscribers and to influence the future development of Apple products? The team responsible for crafting the key recommendation features of Apple Music is looking for a passionate summer intern. We are a group of friendly international researchers and developers who share a real love for machine learning, audio signal processing, engineering and music. Our mission is to connect artists and music lovers. We research, design and build the next generation of recommendation and playlisting services. As a member of the team, your task will be to work on some of the most ambitious technical problems and develop new ML solutions that can impact future Apple products

    Key qualifications

    • Proven knowledge of machine learning
    • Experience cleaning, manipulating, analysing and modelling data
    • Relevant scientific publications
    • Software development skills in Python
    • Familiarity with current ML toolkits such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
    • Background in music information retrieval, recommender systems, search, computational advertising or NLP a huge plus but not required
    • Experience in SQL and an object-oriented language such as Java, Scala or C++ is a plus
    • Love of music

    Description

    In this role you will apply your research skills, coding ability and imaginative scientific attitude to work on challenging and meaningful problems in applied machine learning. These range from audio content-based analysis to recommender systems for music. You'll work on one of the most exciting problems in industry-scale machine learning, with state of the art resources at Apple, including huge compute grids, top-quality machine learning tools, and massive quantities of data. Based in central London, you will also occasionally collaborate with other teams at Apple in the US! Is this you? If so we'd love to hear from you.

    Education & experience

    A degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or related field. Enrolled in a PhD programme or equivalent
