    Job Description

    Primary Responsibilities

    • The role is to provide engineering input to solve complex and challenging engineering problems in a manufacturing environment.
    • Gain knowledge in the necessary skills associated with a Mechanical Engineer – Mechanical theory, practical application, Health and Safety processes and procedures, documentation, scope of works creation, project planning, execution and management, support, and guide shopfloor maintenance personnel.
    • Perform in-depth planning and monitoring of activities during periods of planned downtime.
    • To lead/support projects related to introducing new and/or improving existing equipment and processes.
    • Work with the senior Mechanical Engineers to continuously improve the reliability of equipment and processes.
    • Work with the engineering team to deliver projects from conception to completion.

    Key Objectives

    • Identify key quality, process, and equipment development opportunities for Kitts Green and through the utilisation and deployment of continuous improvement techniques strive to continuously improve Kitts Green’s capabilities.
    • To gain a strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering.
    • To be able to understand the mechanical principles and systems.
    • To be able to assist and take responsibility in improving Plant and Equipment uptime to improve plant reliability.
    • To train to be able to assist and be responsible for the specification and procurement of the new Plant and Equipment.
    • Delivering Capital Expenditure (Capex) projects on time and on budget.
    • Strong IT skills would be highly necessary for this role which would include internal systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel etc.
    • To be able to work within a large and fast paced team.
    • Analytical and strategic thinking would be required for this position.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Proactive approach and be self-motivated to achieve goals and targets.

    Kitts Green is an urban centre located 20 minutes from Birmingham City Centre and offers easy access from all major traffic routes, M6, M5, M42.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
    • A strong desire to work within a manufacturing/production environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels.
    • Additional accreditations in engineering tools (CAD, Inventor, etc.).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to analyse technically complex problems and develop the most appropriate solutions.
    • Ability to work with others (at all levels of the organisation) and be a positive influence on the engineering and maintenance teams.
