    Argus produces commercial conferences for the energy and commodities markets. We specialise in agriculture, bioenergy, crude oil, the energy transition, fertilizers, genfuels, LPG, metals, net zero, oil products, and petrochemicals. With a global portfolio of 35 events, Argus have dedicated conference teams in Houston, London, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, and Singapore.

    What will you be doing?

    We are looking for a passionate, driven and resourceful Graduate Conference Producer to join our expanding global team. This is a great opportunity for someone with no/limited Conference Production work experience to establish and grow their career in Conferences. You will be tasked with delivering commercially successful, well attended and critically respected conferences.

    Your primary responsibility will be to research and write the conference programme, identify and secure the full speaker faculty, drive the commercial strategy of the event and manage the project from inception to completion. This will include International travel to attend all the events you deliver.

    Conference production offers a rich, varied and international career forintellectually curious and commercially driven minds. You will quickly get under the skin of complex global commodities industries. As a graduate you will be equipped with skills and afforded autonomy and responsibility found in few other career paths at entry level. This role allows for face-to-face meetings around the world with senior figures from industry and politics. Creativity and lateral thinking are key, as you will be creating commercially successful, stand-out events.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Using desk, telephone and face-to-face client research write topical and focused conference programmes reflecting the needs most pertinent to the sector
    • Identify the leading names in each sector, which organisations/individuals are most innovative and secure these bellwethers as speakers on every programme
    • Define the commercial proposition of each event
    • Build and understand a market map for each conference with insight in to the value and strength of each buy-sell relationship
    • Develop a clear and concise growth strategy for each event and communicate this to the project team
    • Work effectively with peers in sponsorship sales, delegate marketing, conference operations, delegate sales and customer service to ensure full and effective delivery of each project
    • Communicate professionally with Argus editorial, business development, consulting and subscription sales to ensure we benefit from synergies with the rest of the Argus business and speak with one voice to our clients
    • Complete projects to deadline and on budget
    • Understand how market developments will impact the sectors in which you operate, and where an opportunity arises, propose new/launch conferences because of this
    • Network with clients at Argus events and in the market generally to ensure you are part of the industry
    • Develop a passion for the markets in which you operate
    • After an initial year of 4 conferences you will need to be able to deliver all the above on five or six conference projects annually

    Skills and Experience

    • Intelligent – educated to degree level (or equivalent). Knowledge of energy and commodity markets preferred but not essential
    • Commercial – understand more than what is just interesting, but what each market development means for our clients and Argus and how we can monetise it in a conference setting
    • Driven – ambitious and a self-starter that is motivated to exceed targets
    • Networkable – the ability to develop strong professional relationships with colleagues and clients
    • Client focused – empathy and strong client relationship skills
    • Confident – sure of oneself without displaying arrogance. But will demonstrate they listen and act on feedback when given
    • Deadline focused with strong attention to detail – ability to multi-task and deliver projects on time while under pressure
    • Strong written and verbal communication with colleagues and clients at all levels of seniority
