Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, architects, consultants and technical specialists, working across every aspect of today's built environment. Together we help our clients solve their most complex challenges – turning exciting ideas into tangible reality as we strive to find a better way and shape a better world.
Overview of the role
Working in our Advanced Digital Engineering Software team, you will apply your user research skills to help solve real world problems for our clients. A few examples of how you might be working with us are:
- Helping to design digital services that help City Mayors deal with complex planning challenges in their cities.
- Working with structural engineers to design web tools that help them design renewable energy solutions.
- Working with our environmental and transport consultants helping to design analytics solutions to maximise the benefits and minimise the impacts of new transport schemes.
This role is great for someone who enjoys working with lots of different clients and disciplines, indeed the breadth and range of projects you will be working on is what makes the role exciting.
This role will suit someone who likes to plan, design and carry out research activities with users to get a deep understanding of user needs. You will be working in a team of consultant software engineers, data scientists, user researchers and user interface designers and you will often collaborate with other parts of the business on projects (building engineers, transport consultants, geotechnical engineers, urban planners, etc.). Digital is a growing part of the Arup business, and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about joining a growing UX design practice in the built environment.
