The Studio Team

Within our Digital Services Group, Studio is our small strategy and experience design team. Being a multidisciplinary team, we combine expertise in research, strategy, storytelling, architecture and technology to deliver the services and concepts to our clients.

At our core is an aim to help the built environment become more imaginative, innovative, and human-centred. We ground the ideas we deliver in research and make ideas tangible through prototyping and user testing.

The Studio's clients include technology companies like Alphabet, Ericsson R&D abd Samsung, urban development companies like British Land and Lendlease, districts like Adur & Worthing and Stratford Waterfront, infrastructure providers such as Highways England and Heathrow Airport, campuses for University of Melbourne and Welcome Trust, buildings like Collingwood Arts Precinct, Google's new Kings Cross headquarters, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, and city governments in Amsterdam, Melbourne, Sheffield, and London, amongst others. We also collaborate with academic partners like the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL, RMIT University in Melbourne, Royal College of Art and many others.

Overview of the role

Designers are a central figure in the Digital Studio's process and take a considerable share of responsibility for the success of our work. An ideal candidate will take part in the following activities:

  • Independently create compelling drawings for new concepts for buildings, cities, products, digital interventions. These could be technical drawings and plans, but also renderings, perspective line drawings, illustrations or hand drawings to help communicate the idea to a non-technical audience 
  • Support with creating mock-ups and prototypes of spatial interventions (for example public furniture or digital totems) and user testing these
  • Support with creating mock-ups and prototypes for digital deliverables, such as proof of concept documents, storyboards, wireframes, user flow diagrams, and visual renderings, etc.
  • Support with designing workshop artifacts and facilitating workshops for clients, collaborators, and communities
  • Support with conducting research (including user interviews, spatial observations) to generate understanding of spatial challenges and deliver new concepts for interventions
  • Presentation Prep – throughout the process, designers must prepare various reports, artifacts, and workshop tools for clients and stakeholders

What we are looking for

You will have experience and proficient with the below:

  • Advanced - Adobe Creative Cloud, skilled user of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. 
  • Advanced - Skilled user 3D design program, ideally SketchUp, Mayo, Rhino and related rendering 
  • Experience with video editing / post production such as After Effects and Premiere 
  • Experience with basic front end development languages 
  • You will have a degree in Design, which may include Architecture, Product design or Graphic design.

You must be available to start this opportunity in September 2022.
