    Overview of role

    Our Programme and Project Management teams provide professional services across a wide range of strategic and complex projects in many sectors including Energy & Utilities, Commercial, Technology, Science, Healthcare, Industrial, Rail, Property, Aviation and Infrastructure. Some of the professional services we deliver to our clients include Programme and Project Risk management, PMO, Business Transformation, Process Improvement and Strategic and Organisational Change projects. Whether its construction related, or business strategy related, our multi-disciplinary approach ensures we provide our clients with a consistent, high quality tailored solutions to meet their complex requirements, which we deliver through of our projects and programmes.

    Our programme and project risk managers are based in countries across the global Arup network and come from a variety of backgrounds with a range of professional qualifications across engineering, enterprise risk management, business management, sciences, and statistical focused studies.

    We are looking for Graduate Project Risk Managers to join our team of bright professionals.     You will be given a high level of responsibility from day one, which will involve working in high performing teams and delivering client facing tasks. As you progress in your role at Arup, we envisage you will develop your skills and progress in the levels of responsibility and stimulating projects you are involved with.  
     
    Covering the spectrum of programme and project risk management, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of the Risk Management process from defining risk management processes and strategies, developing quantitative and qualitative project risk profiles, and providing recommendations to our clients on how best to manage their overall risk position.

    Typical responsibilities could include

    • Working as part of a project controls team to deliver commissions to a high standard of quality, and client satisfaction 
    • Being the day-to-day assistant risk manager to more senior colleagues 
    • Supporting the facilitation of risk workshops and reviews 
    • Assessing risk exposure (e.e. Capex, Opex, Schedule, revenue, and reputation) qualitatively and semi-quantitatively 
    • Quantifying CAPEX & schedule risk exposure on projects using Monte Carlo simulation  
    • Supporting the development of risk management plans 
    • Project risk monitoring and progress reporting, including creating dashboards and co-ordinating input to provide updates for the client 
    • Attending and participating in project progress, design and delivery team meetings 
    • Establishing and managing project risk control processes 
    • Supporting the development of project gateway reports and other governance reviews 
    • Supporting the development of procurement strategies 
    • Supporting the management of contracts  
    • Develop commercial awareness to support the firm and clients manage their risks 
    • Assisting in preparing for Client presentations and governance meetings

    What are we looking for? 

    We are looking for graduates with curiosity, personal drive and who are technically minded. If you are enthusiastic about a career in Programme and Project Risk Management, underpinned by knowledge and understanding of our sector and work, and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we would like to hear from you.  

    We are looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills

    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, preferably statistically focused (Science, Engineering, Business Management, Mathematics or Risk Management) at 2.1 or above 
    • A relevant Risk Management qualification such as APM Risk Management Certificate or Axelos Management of Risk is advantageous, but not essential 
    • Knowledge of project and/or programme risk management 
    • A self-starter who is motivated to set and achieve goals and proactively takes the initiative when delivering their work  
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
    • Works collaboratively with a proven ability to influence peers and managers 
    • Ability to apply a range of digital tools to improve day to day efficiency including the use of MS 365 
    • Be planned and organised in your approach to work and meeting deadlines 
    • Demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving 
    • Be prepared to travel for assignments (including overseas) 
    • Aware of own impact on others and shows behaviours that support equality, diversity, and inclusion 
    • A keen interest in attaining chartership in a relevant professional body e.g., IRM and/or APM  

    You must be available to start this opportunity in September 2022.
