Overview of role
Our water business continues to grow in response to market demand. We have a wide and growing portfolio of work delivering strategic advice to our water clients. We deliver projects as trusted advisor to clients globally which include government; private infrastructure asset owners and operators; regulatory and policy organisations; and investment institutions. Recent clients include Environment Agency, Welsh Water, Yorkshire Water, Wessex Water, Northern Ireland Water, Bristol City Council, Thames Water, Rockefeller Foundation and other international NGOs.
We are looking for a graduate to join our dynamic and growing team who is excited by the challenge of driving innovation, delivering excellence for our clients, influencing the sector both nationally and internationally through our projects, and working in collaborative, diverse teams. The West Water Advisory team provides expertise in:
- Risk management and Resilience;
- Sustainability
- Strategy and Policy.
- Asset Planning including Water Resources Planning;
- Regulation;
- Investment Appraisal including Environmental and Social Economics;

You will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. Working as part of a team, your role will be to advise city and infrastructure clients on a range of strategic, policy and economics issues. Across the public and private sectors, you will help manage client relationships with public sector agencies, private sector clients, infrastructure operators and other organisations such as regulators.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include the following
- Primary and secondary research and data analysis
- Conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments
- Preparation of clear and concise reports
- Liaising with client and managing stakeholders
- Designing and facilitating workshops
- Solving technical problems, and providing innovative solutions as your level of experience develops
- Managing delivery and budgets on small scale projects
- Preparation of bids and tenders
- Planning your workload so that you can deliver on time or ahead of target
- Using various computer software packages ranging from Microsoft Office applications through to more specialist packages such as Arc GIS.
- Working with teams across the UK and internationally
What are we looking for?
We're looking for Graduates to join our team of professionals in our Bristol Offices.
We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Geography, Science, Mathematics, or a degree course with related content. Applicants with (or in progress) Masters and PhDs encouraged (but not essential)
- Good reasoning and excellent analytical skills
- Ability to interpret the needs of clients and other stakeholders
- Ability to take a strategic view on complex, multifaceted issues
- Ability to help develop research methods and execute research projects
- A planned and organised approach to work and meeting deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to collaborate effectively with many environmental, engineering and design disciplines
