Are you enjoying Bright Network?

Industrial Internship Town Planning

On this 1 year Industrial Placement you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding add value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity.

You'll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There are regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development.

Our aim is to welcome as many students back into our other programmes, be that another internship or potential graduate position. This placement is the stepping-stone to your future.

We are currently looking to recruit an Industrial Placement Student to join our established team of Consultants in the North region. Based in Belfast, with collaboration between offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, you will work within a wider team to deliver an effective and professional service to a wide range of clients including railway operators, renewables energy providers, local authorities, utility providers and central government departments. Projects can vary in duration and location which helps to provide a diverse working environment. Due to the nature of our work you will have the opportunity to gain a broad range of skills, and will develop over the course of your time with us as you gain increased responsibility. Both commercial and technical training is available and encouraged as you gain more experience. You will be encouraged to work towards a professional qualification to support your on-going career development.

We're looking for students who have completed their undergraduate studies in Planning or a relevant discipline and are looking to take an Industrial Placement as part of their Post-graduate studies. We are seeking for a person with curiosity, personal drive and technical knowhow. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of (or willingness to learn about) the industry and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we'd like to hear from you.

Our planners work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines to advise the private, public and third sectors to guide each stage of the development process. We offer our clients a broad spectrum of consulting services including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Strategic advice on policy, place and development
  • Planning applications and related advice
  • Regeneration strategies and policies
  • Consultation and stakeholder engagement
  • Active Travel and Transport Planning
  • Masterplanning and Urban Design
  • Research and analysis
  • Business case advice for major regeneration programmes
