Paralegal Exeter 2024
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join the Trusts & Estates department based in our Exeter office.
What you'll do
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for assisting senior fee earners in the department with a range of complex matters. You may also be responsible for running some of your own files.
The role will involve a broad range of private client work, which will initially include focusing on assisting with our Court of Protection and professional attorneyship / deputyship administration workload and in time including assisting the team with general trust administration, registration of trusts on the Trust Registration Service and drafting a range of deeds where required. You will also provide the team with assistance with administrative tasks to include billing, compliance reviews and file opening procedures. Alongside this, you will research on developments in the law and communicate updates to team members and help with ongoing projects.
The position is office based but the role will require you to be able to travel to other offices or clients addresses from time to time and therefore a driving licence together with access to a vehicle (with the appropriate insurance) is required.
Who you are
In this busy and challenging role, you will need to be highly motivated, organised and methodical in order to manage the workload and meet clients' needs on a daily basis. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working in private client as a Paralegal. You will need to be flexible, calm under pressure and able to effectively prioritise your work. We will expect you to have excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills in order to deliver exceptional client service.
We are flexible about the training route you have taken to date, so you might have completed a Law degree and LPC. Regardless of this, you will be seeking to take on high levels of responsibility from the outset, and be keen to learn and progress over time. Previous experience working in a law firm setting is desirable, but not essential.
