    This is an exciting time to join the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS), to deliver and support the evolution of the College. We are currently developing a new vision and strategy for the College which will reflect our growing ambitions and the importance of a hands-on authentic experience for our students and experimental translational research.

    About the role

    The College is seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to the post of Computer Science Technician for the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences. The post will support the departments within the School of Informatics & Digital Engineering. The post will report to the Head of Technical Services for the College.

    The postholder will provide support to academic staff with the delivery of CS laboratory sessions, including set up and configuration for specific taught laboratories. The postholder will also provide support in collaboration with academic staff throughout the laboratory sessions, contributing to delivery and assessment where appropriate. The post holder will work closely with academic staff (particularly those responsible for programming-based teaching) and help to develop best practice in this area. As the programming-related abilities and backgrounds of our students vary, the post holder will need to be adaptable and possess excellent communication skills and the ability to explain topics in an approachable way. Creativity is required to try new teaching approaches. The post holder will also work closely, when applicable, with academic staff to support the maintenance and configuration of research technologies.
