Who we are:
Augmentum Fintech is one of Europe’s leading venture capital investors focusing exclusively on the fintech sector. We back fast-growing fintech businesses (typically Series A and later) that are disrupting the banking, insurance, asset management and wider financial services sectors, and actively work with our portfolio companies to help them achieve their potential.
Augmentum is the only publicly listed fintech-focused venture capital firm in the UK, having launched on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in 2018. Our progressive structure gives businesses access to patient funding and support, unrestricted by conventional fund return timelines. Our portfolio of 21 fintech companies includes Tide, interactive investor, Onfido, Grover, Tesseract and Farewill.
The role:
Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the performance of our portfolio companies post-investment is an important part of life at Augmentum. We are looking for a detail-orientated individual to join our London-based team as an Investment Analyst (Intern), supporting the day-to-day activities of our Investment Team with a focus on portfolio performance monitoring, valuations, investor/board relations and due diligence. We are looking for someone who will share our enthusiasm for supporting ambitious early stage fintech companies and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. This is a great opportunity for someone keen to immerse themselves in the European VC/tech ecosystem and learn from an experienced, close-knit team.
Internship timings:
The role is a paid 9 month internship. We are looking for someone to join us in September 2021 and the specific start date is negotiable.
Application deadline:
20th August 2021. Please note, we are interviewing on a rolling basis, so would highly recommend applying sooner rather than later if you are interested.
Scope of the role:
Portfolio monitoring, analysis and valuations
Monitoring portfolio company performance through data collection and analysis (using software including iLevel), portfolio valuation exercises and preparing investor reports and presentations.
PLC: Investor and board relations
Supporting the preparation of investor reports, with a focus on providing context on portfolio and drivers of fund performance. Supporting the preparation of presentations to be used for fundraising and other investor meetings.
Due diligence
Working with the investment team throughout the investment process with a focus on due diligence, through research and financial analysis of companies we are considering making investments in.
Note: this is primarily a financial analysis, desk-based role. While there will certainly be opportunities to sit in on meetings, go to industry events and build your network, the majority of your time will be spent on financial analysis, valuations etc. rather than deal-sourcing.
Requirements
- University graduate with up to 2 years’ experience in a relevant professional environment (e.g. finance, consulting, tech startup)
- Experience in either financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, fund accounting, tax and compliance or audit (accounting qualifications are favourable). - Demonstrated interest in startups, venture capital and fintech/financial services
- Eye for detail, intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness and analytical mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (English), proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
- Appropriate working permit for the UK
Note: If you don’t meet all the above requirements but think you can offer something that makes up for this, we’d love to hear from you.
