What will you be doing as a Data Architecture Intern?

As our Data Intern, you’ll be working with the business, helping to understand and document the data used to deliver our goals. You’ll be involved with creating logical maps of our data and how it relates to our Technology and Business Architecture which it supports.

Enterprise Data Architecture provides a reference map of the core data used within the business. It provides a set of standardised business definitions and views for all our key data assets and describes how those data assets interact with each other.

This data is assigned a Data Owner, classified and assessed for quality to ensure it is fit for purpose.

By modelling the data and ownership we help support the business in surfacing and understanding the data we use and ensuring new systems fit within the existing IT landscape.

During your 12 months with us, you’ll be able to get involved with some exciting projects such as:

    • Enterprise Architecture modelling
    • Logical ERD modelling
    • Conceptual ERD modelling
    • Assess the data classifications and sensitivity of the data to understand and mitigate privacy needs.
    • Work with Data Architecture and Data & Digital to size the effort and timeline required to improve the data quality to an acceptable level.
    • Understand and document data processing activities undertaken to calculate our ODI (Outcome Delivery Incentives) performance and the source master data, using Enterprise Data Architecture techniques.
    • Understand and assess the data quality of all ODI data sources using the CARTIE methodology.

What you’ll bring to the team

    • An interest in Digital, Data and Analytics
    • An analytical, reasoned and methodical mind
    • Critical thinking
    • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders
    • Close attention to detail but still understanding the big picture
    • An exploratory mindset
    • Data and/or Analytics related study (NOT necessarily a degree!)

As well as the above, awareness of Data Architecture and/or Enterprise Architecture is desirable but not essential. The most important thing is an interest in the subject and a desire to learn!

This role is open to individuals from all walks of life; under graduates, postgraduates and people seeking a new challenge or career change.
