What you’ll be doing

Building on our success, a key initiative for the AXA Motor Trade Specialist Unit is to enhance our offering in the marketplace by introducing Assistant Underwriters, who’ll work closely with our existing team of experienced underwriters. You’ll be the focal point for specific brokers and will own the onboarding of pre-identified business for these brokers. You’ll support the underwriters with core underwriting activities across both new and existing business disciplines, which will contribute to the high standards are customers have to come to expect.

To be an Assistant Underwriter in our Motor Trade Speciality Unit Team, you’ll have a proven track record in delivering excellent customer service. You may already be working in the insurance industry or just starting out in your career, either way full training will be provided to ensure you’re successful in the role.

Interviews

Our interviews for this role will be held week commencing 6th Jan 2025 – there will be an initial introductory call with our hiring manager via teams for 30 mins, from here, if you’re successful through the initial interview, the final stage will be a Competency based interview for an hour which may be via teams or face to face in our offices in either Bolton or Birmingham.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team, and our customers. You'll work at least 60% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. Please note that you will be present in the office for 5 days a week during the initial training period of up to 4 weeks.

What you’ll bring

  • Some underwriting experience in a composite insurance or broker environment is preferable but not essential.
  • Experience in a customer service / financial services background is preferred.
  • Numerical and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organise and prioritise workloads to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Desire to study towards professional qualifications.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
