What will you do in this role?
The role supports the Underwriting teams and Unit Head to provide administrative support both in London and the US, while gaining an understanding into the role of an Underwriter.
Underwriting support administration
- Assist underwriters in underwriting preparation and submission, including underwriting templates.
- Enter data in underwriting systems / spreadsheets.
- Prepare daily logs recording underwriting activity.
- Check details of underwriting in daybook entries and ensure appropriate underwriting signing.
- Assist in the completion of reports (e.g. company / industry / market profiles, risk reports) and ensure timely distribution to relevant individuals.
- Liaise with other departments on various issues, e.g. premium queries, bookings, etc.
- Assist underwriters to liaise and correspond with brokers.
- Assist in the budget reporting process.
- Assist in all other general underwriting administration and processing functions to ensure efficient workflow within the team.
File maintenance and compliance
- Maintain all files and documents both manually and electronically.
- General and Ad Hoc Administration and Support
- Assist with regulatory and ad-hoc administration as required.
- Any other reasonable requests made by management.

What you need to have
- Educated to A-Level standard.
- Knowledge of basic office software systems and spreadsheets.
- Microsoft Office including proficiency in Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures.
- Ability to build trust by operating with integrity and professionalism.
- Organisation and time management skills.
What we prefer you to have
- Educated to degree level.
- General level of knowledge of insurance.
- Prior Underwriting Assistant experience is advantageous.
Role factors
In this role, you will typically be required to:
- Be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Meet with brokers and insureds with Underwriter’s when required.
- Attend market seminars and social events.
