Nuclear - Bristol
(Undergraduates studying STEM based degrees)
What you’ll be doing
You will be based in one of our design, safety or facility management offices working with the teams who maintain the facilities at Devonport, Plymouth to support the MoD and Royal Navy.
What you’ll get out of it
Half of the entire Royal Navy surface fleet is based in Devonport, so you’ll spend your summer getting hands-on with some of the world’s most advanced naval technology. You’ll have a variety of different opportunities, working as part of technical departments, project management or production teams.
What you’ll need
- To be studying a STEM degree
- To be able to satisfy the MoD’s security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment)
Marine – Bristol
(Undergraduates studying STEM based degrees)
What you’ll be doing
You will be based in one of our engineering management offices within the Bristol office and could be working on a variety of disciplines such as Mechanical or Electrical or Systems Engineering.

You’ll spend your year long placement getting hands-on with some of the world’s most advanced naval technology. You’ll have a variety of different opportunities, working as part of technical departments, project management or production teams.

Nuclear and Marine – Plymouth
(Quantity Surveying)
What you’ll be doing
Based at Devonport, you’ll gain an in-depth experience in most aspects of the project lifecycle associated with the functions of a Quantity Surveyor, with a diverse range of projects across our business (£10k to £100m). We will teach you the required commercial and contract management skills needed to excel at all tasks.
What you’ll get out of it
To ensure you get the most out of the experience, you will be assigned a buddy, mentor and manager. You will also have regular performance reviews and attend sessions to help you develop key skills. There will be plenty of opportunity to visit our other sites and meet other placement students. During your time with us, you’ll meet a range of people, from graduates to directors, who will share their experiences and expand your industry knowledge. And if you have a successful placement with us, you will be fast-tracked through the graduate assessment process.
What you’ll need
- To be studying for a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related subject
- To be able to satisfy the MoD’s security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment)
