This role is based in Farnborough, Hampshire UK at Sondex Wireline Ltd. A business within the Wireline Services division of Baker Hughes Oil Field Services and Equipment. The company designs and manufactures a diverse range of electromechanical instruments (Wireline Downhole tools) that operate in deep oil & gas wells under extremely harsh environments.

This is an exciting and energizing role for an early-career engineer. Aspiring to become an accomplished engineering professional in a high technology industry. You will develop novel technology and be involved in all stages of product design from the initial concept, production handover and beyond.
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for -
- Overseeing Product and design specifications: Assist with formulating the “input” specifications for new products and development projects.
- Devising new and novel mechanical design concepts, producing models (physical or 3D CAD) appropriate for the subsequent verification activities.
- Developing and Testing: Devise experiments, design and build test apparatus to verify concept function and performance.
- Engineering analysis: Conduct engineering analysis such as stress and structural, kinematics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer. CAE tools use.
- Detailing Design: Take the concept from the layout stage through detail design. Generation of manufacturing drawings and documentation.
- Building / testing Prototypes: Coordinating parts, materials and assembling the prototype product. Developing and documentation of new equipment and processes required.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a BSc in Mechanical Engineering with a grade of 2.1 or higher
- Have proficiency / knowledge of at least one 3D CAD system ideally SolidWorks and at least one FEA program (e.g. ANSYS).
- Have a deep curiosity for engineering, creative drive to design and make things and some practical “hands-on” skills
- Have knowledge and experience of SAP & ECTR
- Have had exposure to working in multiple methodical (electrical, mechanical) design teams
- Have proven analytical & problem solving skills
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with experience in procedure development
