Position overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an International Retail Experience Student Placement to join our Global Marketing Team here at our head office in South Shields.

Throughout the 12-month placement, the successful student will play a key part in supporting the International Display Manager in the planning, communication and roll-out of the physical brand experience across global showrooms, retail and wholesale environments. The role will assist in the day-to-day project management of new seasonal collections launches, new store opening design packages and refits, as well as communicating cross-functionally on the development needs of new packaging and labelling.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist the International Display Manager in the planning and implementation of the seasonal head office showroom
    • Research seasonal display ideas
    • Support updating creative concept and image selection documents in time for launches, required for the seasonal showrooms.
    • Liaising with internal marketing, commercial and design teams on critical path dates.
    • Liaise with external supplier and contractors to support showroom builds and set-up.
  • Assist the International Display Manager with the development, communication and implementation of Retail Store design.
    • Manage and update the global retail store tracker, supporting keeping projects on deadline.
    • Assist the International Display manager in pulling together review and design proposal documents to be shared with partners around the world.
    • Liaise with External Contractors and agencies;
    • Follow up of all phases of store opening plan
    • Review, research and report on current store designs across all markets.
    • Mange folders to ensure all designs and files are updated as required.
  • Assist in the development of packaging and branding projects.
    • Assist in the development of existing and new packaging requirements and tracking timelines
    • Communicate development across relevant departments and suppliers.
  • Working closely with visual merchandising, marketing and sales teams to ensure a 360 approach to projects.
  • Regular in-store visits to track competitor activity and launches across retailers, gathering photos, details on materials and structures to create a monthly report for presentation to the Marketing Team.
  • Support installations for showroom as a liaison between display manager, marketing and VM teams.

Skills and experience

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a good eye for detail and an awareness of current Retail Design trends
  • Able to work autonomously with great organisational and time-management skills
  • Experience in PowerPoint, Photoshop and Excel
  • 3D design would be an advantage but not prerequisite.

Additional information

  • To apply for this placement, you must be currently studying an Undergraduate Sandwich Degree Course and able to undertake 12 months in industry as part of your course.
