Barings' dedicated Emerging Markets Debt team manages over $15 billion in assets across corporates, sovereign, local debt, and blended strategies. An integrated team of 20 seasoned portfolio managers, analysts and traders analyses the sovereign debt of over 90 countries and the corporate debt of over 1000 companies.
Internship project
The emerging markets sovereign debt team is looking for a graduate student for the summer of 2023 EMD Fellowship to be based in Boston, Paris, or London and work on the following project: DSGE Modeler.
The main objective of the summer research fellowship is to maintain and improve the existing Emerging Markets (EM) and Developed Markets (DM) Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models. Candidate will create and maintain the econometric models and macro indicators across global markets. Candidate will also be responsible for producing research to assist team with trade idea generation and investment decisions across rates and currencies in EM.
Skills
- Deep knowledge and hand-on experience of Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model
- Experienced with Eviews, Matlab, R, and other statistical software
- Masters or Ph.D. degree in economics required. Macroeconomics and International Economics/Finance preferred
- Good understanding of global macro markets, particularly interest rates, currencies, and inflation
- Experience forecasting economic variables
- Econometrics and economic model building capabilities
- Central bank work experience (world bank, IMF, etc.) is a plus
- Excellent macroeconomic analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively and independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present effectively to the EM team and other audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork and collaboration
