The Planning Graduate role involves all aspects of planning policy work and will provide the post holder with valuable experience of both urban and rural planning issues in an area of significant growth and change.
Excellent communication skills and a customer focus are essential to the post as is the ability to progress a varied workload and see the bigger picture. Relevant experience of working within a local planning authority or a private consultancy in a planning role will be a benefit, and you will be a well organised person, who can work collaboratively but also independently to support the team in providing a first rate planning policy function. The role offers the chance to be involved in
- working on a new Local Plan, joining near the beginning of the process,
- assisting in the delivery and monitoring of our Adopted Local Plan
- working with local communities to deliver neighbourhood plans and orders which meet local needs and aspirations
- implementing the council’s corporate priorities through planning, such as responding to the Climate Change Emergency
